1. Preheat the Oven
Start by preheating the oven to 180°C (350°F). Line a baking tray with baking parchment and set it aside.
2. Prepare the Dry Ingredients
In a large mixing bowl, combine 250 grams of rolled oats, 50 grams of desiccated coconut, 200 grams of chopped nuts, 1 teaspoon of cinnamon, and a pinch of salt. Mix the dry ingredients until well blended. You can easily customize this granola by swapping out the nuts I used for other nuts like pecans, pistachios, macadamia nuts, or any other of your favourite nuts. Simply keep the total amount of nuts (200 grams) constant and create your unique flavour combination.
3. Combine Wet and Dry Ingredients
In a saucepan, melt the coconut oil, then pour it into the dry ingredients. Finally, mix in the honey. Stir everything thoroughly to ensure that the dry ingredients are evenly coated with the liquid.
4. Bake
Spread the granola mixture evenly on the prepared baking tray lined with baking parchment. Bake in the preheated oven for about 25 minutes, or until the granola is golden brown. Stir every 10 minutes to ensure even baking. This step prevents the granola from burning and allows for even baking.
5. Cool and Store
Remove the granola from the oven and let it cool completely on the tray. It will become even crispier as it cools.
Once the granola has completely cooled, transfer it to an airtight container. Enjoy your homemade granola for breakfast, as a topping for yogurt, with milk, or as a snack!
