1. Activate the yeast
In a small mixing bowl, dissolve the yeast with 1 teaspoon of sugar in 4 tablespoons of lukewarm water and leave it to stand until foamy. It takes about 5-10 minutes.
2. Make the dough
In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour and a pinch of salt. Add 250 millilitres of lukewarm water, olive oil, and activated yeast. Mix with the dough hook of the hand mixer until a smooth dough is formed. If necessary, add more water. In the next step, add fresh parsley, garlic, and the grated cheese. Knead until all the ingredients are well combined. Cover the dough with a tea towel and let it rise in a warm place for about an hour, or until it has doubled in size.
3. Bake
Once the dough has doubled in size, preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F) and position the oven rack in the middle.
Grease a 23 cm (9″) diameter baking dish with a little olive oil and pour the dough into it. Lightly oil the top of the bread as well. Cover it with cling film and let it rest until the oven is ready. Once the oven reaches the desired temperature, bake the bread for approximately 45 minutes, or until golden brown.
4. Serve
After baking, immediately remove the bread from the baking dish and place it on a wire rack. Let the bread rest for at least 10-15 minutes before slicing it. Enjoy your homemade Cheese Bread with your favourite dishes.
